Quietly you came to give such joy,

A beautiful, happy, loving boy.

Hair so fair and eyes so blue,

When you left you took a piece of me with you.

With a shy shrug, you were on your way

Maybe to eat corn or wear someone’s shoes that day.

There couldn’t have been a happier child,

I wish you could have stayed with us more than a while.

There is an empty place in my heart where you should be,

But you quietly left us with just a precious memory.
